Episode 073: Thoughts by Mom-nonymous
Episode 073: When Life Gets Lifey with special guests David Hicok
David Hicok is a financial advisor who resides in Long Beach, California. Today David is a happy guy. He shares his journey to get to this place. It took several years and major changes. David and his first wife were married for 18+ years (it took a few to finalize the divorce) and their story has a few different chapters. When they were dating, they lived together in Laguna Beach and she had a nice job. She had grown kids. She and David moved to Pasadena. David changed careers and the money was not as good and he hated his job. Neither of them were happy.
David decided to go back to school for a degree while he was still working full-time. His wife felt ignored and was not happy. She told David that he threw away their marriage and now she wanted a divorce. They agreed to split. However, she she didn’t do anything to get the process started. After many false starts, they finally hired a Dream Team and officially ended the marriage.
David now pays her alimony, but “Hey” he said, “it’s a good tax write off.”
