Episode 060: Thoughts from Mom-Nonymous
Episode 060: Stop Pretending & Start Living! with special guest Sunny Joy McMillan
Sunny Joy McMillan shared her divorce journey. At the young age of 23, Sunny married older man who was an attorney. Sunny later became an attorney herself. Thinking back, Sunny now thinks the marriage was more about success and appearances.
During their 12 year marriage they did not see eye to eye on things. Sunny went to therapy. She did not tell anybody else she was unhappy. She and her husband did a lot of arguing over things.
Sunny asked her husband if he would like to attend The Burning Man Festival with her and he agreed. For her, the experience sent her on a different mindset. Afterward, she and her husband agreed on a six-month separation. There was no cheating. They continued wearing wedding rings and would talk a couple times a month. He told her that if she was really unhappy he would give her a divorce, and he did. It would be three years before they would again have a conversation with one another.
They eventually made amends and Sunny took ownership over her role as an equal player in misery during the 12 years they were married. It opened the doors between them andnd they are now friends again. Divorce was a catalyst to freedom.
This whole process was an intense study in finding herself and what really mattered in her life. Through the help of outside sources she has regained her self worth and spirituality.
Today Sunny is A Master Life Coach and loves helping others find their freedom.
