Episode 050: Embracing Her Feminine Power
Episode 050: Embracing Her Feminine Power with special guest Orion Talmay
The one year anniversary of Life Lafter Divorce is right around the corner! We’re so close!
Leanne and The Boyfriend discuss the importance of taking your power back after traumatic experiences. LLD pod doesn’t usually talk about current events, but as Leanne points out, it’s hard not to think of the current #metoo movement when discussing the empowerment of women.
03:55 Meet Orion Talmay! She is a life coach, founder of Orion’s Method and host of Stellar Life Podcast. Orion helps alpha-type high achievers awaken their inner goddess. Her clients embrace their feminine power, embody sexy confidence, and attract their soulmate! Orion is a world traveler who studied under leading luminaries in personal development, health/wellness, spirituality, relationships, and sexuality. She is an award-winning speaker and contributor to intent.com and The Huffington Post.
05:00 Orion began her business of life coaching after her second divorce. She started as a physical trainer, transitioned into life coaching, and eventually fell in love with love coaching. Looking back, she realizes her broken relationships were her greatest gifts. The experiences helped clarify her wants and needs. As she moved through her grieving process, she found her anger fueling her. It pushed her forward, urging her to make positive changes and finally find happiness and success.
07:18 Originally from from Israel, Orion and her first husband were both in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and their marriage lasted two years. After her divorce, Orion moved to New York and married her second husband, an super healthy, American pilot. They had a whirlwind relationship and married in months of meeting. Orion was blinded by lust and missed all the warning signs and grew more and more submissive. She just wanted to be in love, and none of her friends wanted to ruin her excitement. The new love relationship quickly changed into a toxic one, with verbal abuse that quickly escalated into physical violence. Orion ended up in the hospital and never returned to her husband. Her self-esteem was crushed/broken.
11:14 She soon found herself on the road to recovery with lots of self-care.
“I was like nobody’s ever going to hurt me again! I studied martial arts, and I became really physically strong. Then I worked on my mind, and then I worked on my spirit.”
As she reflects on her past, she sees it as her greatest gift. She’s found her place in the world and knows where she’s going.
12:30 Orion shares about the behavior patterns of a narcissist. She recalls how isolated shwe was. She didn’t want to call her family or close any of her closest friends. They were on the other side of the world! For the first two months she was lonely and in both physical and emotional pain. Eventually, she began to take little actions like watching motivational YouTube videos and books. She even volunteered with SAVI (The Mount Sinai SAVI Program: Advocating for Sexual Assault and Intimate Partner Violence Survivors) to help other abused women and to seek a better understanding of why this had happened. While being helpful, it was difficult to go to the hospital to see other women hurting.
For a while, Orion saw a psychologist. But they wanted to medicate her and she prefered to work through her emotions on her own. Orion began educating herself on nutrition, physical training, and spirituality.
16:38 Already a physical trainer, Orion began incorporating what she was learning through her personal experience and research. She used the power of positive language and became aware of how they her client’s self-talk and helped them to understand the power of their words.
19:00 “What you say to yourself when nobody is listening is key to your success.”
20:18 Orion’s method incorporates mind, body, and spirit. Orion helps women attract their inner goddess.
21:50 Orion works with women who have already done some healing, but are maybe missing some tools to understand their part in a relationship. She works with those who are ready to blossom versus those who are in the midst of chaos.
23:40 Orion loves to help alpha type women – women who are driven, have their own business, are achievers. She turns them into alpha goddesses. She makes them even more adorable.
24:48 What about non-alpha women? What about the women who are broken and not sure how to flip that switch back on? Orion’s mission is to light people up and is willing to talk to anyone. If she finds they’re a good fit for coaching, then great! Everyone is different. As long as a woman is ready, willing and able to move forward, she can break though.
27:00 What does her coaching include? She makes suggestions for physical and nutritional changes, but her deeper work is on the subconscious mind. Orion uses various processes to speak to the sub-conscience mind – metaphors, symbol, journaling, and all kinds of things that help them “pop”.
30:05 Orion shares a story of surrendering to a higher power. Orion was attending a Tony Robbins event and was assigned to write her vision of what a good relationship looked like. It was a long day of meetings and lectures, and finally, at 1:00 am it came to her. She needed to write two lists. One list would be of the characteristics of what she desired in a man and the list was a list of characteristics she needed to become the woman that would attract that man. Who did she need to become?
Forty eight hours later at that very same conference, Orion met her next/current husband, Stephan. Nine days later he proposed to her in Vegas!
She said no. (Eventually she said yes!)
37:00 Orion has always believed something has been leading her and whatever happens on her journey is a gift.
38:30 “Nothing is happening to you and the universe is conspiring for you.”
39:20 Leanne asked if she now recognizes the signs she initially missed with her second husband and if she had a better understanding of why she did. Orion said she sees some, but not really. Instead, she has more of acceptance and forgiveness. In fact, Orion actually called her ex to ask for forgiveness. Asking for forgiveness liberated her.
“The moment I ask for forgiveness, I own myself. He’s got no power.”
42:38 Orion started dating. The victim mentality shifted and she began rebuilding herself. She stopped looking back.
